Service Description

Learn how to create textured rivulet effects in watercolour with sedimentary pigments and granulation medium, this workshop will help you create more poetry than prose in your paintings by replacing detail with texture, your paintings will be more suggestive, and less illustrative with this approach. In addition, students will learn a dry brushstroke technique useful in describing the broken edges of clouds and foliage in a loose way. We will begin the day by practicing technique before making any application to a finished painting. These workshops are highly structured and progressive, and designed to leave the student knowing exactly what they are supposed to be doing in detail. This workshop is aimed at those who are competent in watercolour application, but would like to add another technique to their toolbox. For those students living further afield, Gilly also offers accommodation at Grove farmhouse, which Gilly's teaching studio is a part of, there are 3 double, 1 triple, and 1 single bed rooms available, and for group bookings, there is also a sofa bed on the ground floor which is suitable for those with mild mobility limitations, for more information visit the top of Gilly's website, under 'Grove farmhouse' The fee for residential is an extra £50.00 per night for bed, breakfast and dinner with wine, non painting room sharing partners are welcome for an extra £10.00 The price advertised is for workshop only, but all materials and equipment will be provided, along with tea, coffee, biscuits and cake, but students are asked to bring a packed lunch.
